The UK is just thinking about this now? We’ve had to do this kind of reporting for a number of different government agencies for years (and years to come). The correct term is onerous. Although it keeps me employed.
It would be interesting to see this kind of scrutiny turned on the Research Councils themselves…
There are indeed various output tracking activities in individual Research Councils. I suspect this is an attempt to harmonise and go a bit further.
