  1. Indeed. But on first glance, I thought it was a coypu, which is a proper nuisance in France where it was introduced from South America to replace beaver for fur production way back when. In which case you don’t want to be welcoming it anywhere but South America.

    It came up under a search for ‘European beaver’. I can only tell the difference quickly by their tails. From the profile of the head, I’m not sure either. I think the coypu has more longer whiskers…?
