Is comment not free?

As I’m currently a frugal-living skinflint, I’ve been eschewing forking out for newspapers and tend to do my weekly world catch-up on-line. And if this means, as it sometimes does, perusing The Observer, I might be drawn by the poly-talented Victoria Coren‘s column. Because, for one thing, she’s often very funny.

Unfunnily, however, today’s offering is footnoted:

Why?

They’re moderated anyway; and removed if they transgress ‘community standards’, such as one or two of those responding to (responders to) Nick Cohen’s (one might think) far more legally problematic piece.
